ABOUT THE 10 DAY CERTIFIED KRAV MAGA INSTRUCTOR COURSE (OPTION 1)

This course is taught in 2 phases of 5 days of training by our most experienced instructors and includes 30 days free membership to any of our school classes when you finish each phase of training (so you get 60 days membership total for free on top of the course)

The free membership is there for you to practice techniques and give you some teaching practice on top of the practice you would have received during the course – its free, and starts the day after you finish the course, so you can take it or leave it as you wish

COURSE PRE-REQUISITES

This course is open to all able bodied participants and requires no previous martial arts or combative experience as this is covered in phase 1 of the 2 phases of training with 2 free retake options should a student have difficulties anyway. You must however pass phase 1 to get onto phase 2.

ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME (OPTION 2)

Our apprenticeship programme gives you everything described in option 1 but with the added bonus of giving you 1 year all academy classes access plus the option of taking phases 1 and 2 of the Krav Maga Instructor course repeatedly & whenever you choose within this period.

This option offers enormous flexibility and savings if you were to compare the cost of an annual membership plus paying for the 10 day instructor course separately

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

The accommodation options in London are too numerous to mention with a broad price range of hostels, hotels & Airbnb venues to choose from.
So, rather than list a number of properties here we would rather recommend you note the studio training postcode SW8 2LD and google search to satisfy your budget / accommodation expectations.

COURSE FLEXIBILITY

Phase 1 & Phase 2 are run together roughly on a bi-monthly basis so that should a participant be injured, or unable to take a particular section of a course due to work commitments or simply not up to speed with the course for example, then they may re-attend another phase for free (up to re-attending a maximum of 2 courses) at a later date.
The phases can also be taken as a private training option if the dates shown do not work with your diary.
However, please note that the pricing for private training would obviously be based on our normal private training rates and charged by the hour & at a mutually convenient time.

FAQ's

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE COURSE?

Upon successful completion of the course we will add your name to our list of qualified instructors and you will be able to teach your BAKM classes and courses yourself going forward (excepting instructor courses and as long as you have up to date first aid and relevant insurance / DBS cover where needed). If you teach regular classes then you are classed as a school and we will advertise your school on our main website (if you wish) and allow you to use our logo as long as you pay a monthly fee to do this (with the fee decided upon a case by case basis).

WHAT IF I FAIL A PHASE?

If you fail to meet the requirements to pass a phase of training you will be allowed to attend a phase of training for FREE up to 2 more times to help you pass going forward (if you don’t pass after 2 more attempts then we’re sorry but this simply isn’t for you).

HOW DO WE TEST EACH PHASE?

In phase 1 we are simply observing you the whole time, how you move, execute techniques, understand the theory and pass this onto others. You will either pass or fail this phase. If you pass, congratulations! You are now qualified to deliver 1 day self defence courses yourself and are ready for phase 2 training. If you fail, please don’t be disheartened as we will give you an action plan to work on and invite you to attend another phase 1 course (for free) going forward to meet the course standard.

In phase 2 we are now just concentrating on techniques as we assume that you know the self defence theory and some basic techniques and how to pass these techniques (having passed phase 1) onto others, and so we work through the techniques in the BAKM syllabus to get you to instructor level with the first grade as an instructor being red, then green, then blue and so on.

To understand this more readily you need to understand that the gradings within the BAKM syllabus work as follows from beginner to expert. A novice is a white belt, and in order of expertise we go yellow, orange, red, green, blue, purple, brown and black then we continue with dan stripes added to the black belt on average every 2 years provided continuous participation and involvement is shown.

Blue is the highest level any aspiring instructor can get to on the phase 2 instructor course with only the most gifted and exceptional trainee instructors making it to this level per course.

Testing in phase 2 like phase 1 is constant observation with the main emphasis being on execution of techniques and your teaching ability.

Once phase 2 is finished you will be awarded a grade commiserate with whatever technical level we believe you achieved during the course and if this is either a red, green or blue then you can set up and teach Krav Maga under the BAKM banner and test your future student’s up to 2 grades below you (so a blue belt can test up to red, a green up to orange and a red up to yellow and so on)

Only black belts can grade blue belt and above

If you don’t make one of the instructor grades then you will be awarded either a yellow or orange grade and an action plan will be formulated for you which will include the option of training for free on the next phase 2 training course to get you up to the required grade (either red, green or blue).
